Hilda Baci, a famous chef and holder of a Guinness World Record, has assured admirers that the huge pot she plans to use to break the record for jollof rice at Eko Hotel and Suites in Lagos is clean.
On Friday, a video posted on Instagram showed the cook inside the six-meter-wide handmade pot, cleaning the inside with soap. She laughed about getting inside, but she highlighted that the odd procedure was needed to keep things clean.
Pot cleaned for Hilda Baci jollof rice record
“Yes, I can officially say that this pot is clean!” She remarked, “I rolled up my sleeves and washed it myself,” labeling the brand of detergent.
Baci said that after washing, she would drain and rinse the pot. Afterwards then use new mopsticks to wipe it off again. She also stated, “In just a few hours, this same pot will be home to thousands of servings of Nigerian Jollof history in the making.”
The event is also expected to bring around 20,000 people
The free event, which is being put on with the help of the seasoning company Gino, is expected to draw more than 20,000 people. Baci is a national superstar now after setting a record at a big food challenge. This event is another big food challenge for her.

Baci became famous all around the world in May 2023 when she finished a 100-hour cooking marathon in Lagos. She set a Guinness World Record. Finally the jollof attempt shows how determined she is to make Nigerian food a cultural export around the world.
