Olowu of Kuta Hails Ooni of Ife at 51, Calls Him a Rallying Point

The Olowu of Kuta, Oba Hammed Oyelude Makama, CON, Tegbosun III, has congratulated the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, on his 51st birthday, describing him as a rallying point for traditional leadership in Yorubaland.

In a statement issued on Friday, Oba Makama commended the Ooni for his steadfast commitment to strengthening the bond among Yoruba monarchs and for repositioning traditional institutions across the region.

The Olowu noted that Ooni Ogunwusi’s maturity and restraint in the face of provocation have earned him respect, therefore adding that he remains a symbol of dignity and unity in the Yoruba traditional system.

Ooni of Ife praised for promoting culture and youth inclusion

“Ooni Ogunwusi has continued to earn accolades and has remained unperturbed in the face of provocation,” Olowu said.
“Like the deity that he is, he continues to grow in leaps and bounds, serving as a father to all and also guiding the youth toward purpose and pride in heritage.”

Furthermore, Oba Makama also applauded Ooni Ogunwusi’s leadership during the recent meeting of traditional rulers in Lagos, where he advocated for greater involvement of monarchs, Kabiyesis, Obis, Offalas, Emirs, and Etsu Nupes—in governance and cultural preservation.

Finally, he called Ooni Ogunwusi “a true defender and promoter of culture and tradition” and told him to keep inspiring younger generations with his vision and humility.
