Key Points
• Delta Police break into HK torture house and free seven boys
• Officers arrest two alleged ringleaders during the raid
• Victims receive medical care as trafficking investigation expands
Delta State Police shut down an apartment in Asaba that ran as a torture house under the name Hustlers Kingdom, also called HK.
Officers moved in after a 28-year-old victim, Chukwuike, escaped through a window and reached a nearby station.
Chukwuike told officers he spent two months and one day inside the room. He described constant beatings with canes, long stretches without food and no access to his phone.
He also said the operators kept the boys inside to force them into “yahoo yahoo,” a slang term for online fraud.
The wounds on his back showed the severity of the abuse. He said the cuts came after he complained about not having a paying client. That moment pushed him to jump from the window.
Victims describe harsh beatings and starvation
Another victim, a 23-year-old from Benue State, explained that he had stayed there for about a month.
He tried to leave on his first day, yet the ringleader blocked him and ordered him to remain in the room.
Police spokesperson Bright Edafe shared a video describing what officers found. He noted that the boys endured frequent whipping that left deep cuts.
He added that the apartment looked like a punishment camp masked as a training hub for internet fraud.
Two suspects held as police widen the case
Officers raided the location soon after receiving the report. They rescued seven boys during the operation. They also detained two men who introduced themselves as the “chairmen” of the HK ring.
The victims are now getting medical care. Investigators plan to charge the suspects with trafficking, unlawful detention, physical assault and exploitation.
Edafe urged parents, guardians and young Nigerians to stay alert, since HK-style hideouts are spreading across the state.
He added that the Command will keep tracing the groups behind them and will work to protect vulnerable youths.
