Union president Joe Ajaero told members the situation has become unbearable. He described the latest school kidnapping as a failure that exposed deep cracks in the nation’s security system.
Ajaero said Nigeria felt gripped by danger. He questioned why security operatives were withdrawn from the targeted school shortly before the attack. He called for a full investigation to uncover who approved the move and why.
Labour Plans National Mourning and Mass Protests
Ajaero explained that the Congress will declare a national day of mourning. He said labour will mobilize nationwide protests to pressure authorities to act.
Teachers, students and workers have become vulnerable in ways that push the union toward stronger action.
He stressed that things have tipped beyond endurance. He warned that the union would not stay silent while criminal groups tighten their grip across many states.
Ajaero added that the NLC has withdrawn its representatives from the Labour Party. He said the party’s current leadership acts on personal motives instead of defending workers’ interests.
Falana Warns Nation Is in Deep Crisis
Human rights lawyer Femi Falana joined the meeting and gave a stark assessment of the security situation.
He said kidnappings and attacks have grown in frequency and boldness, pushing the country into serious danger.
Falana dismissed calls for foreign military intervention. He argued that such a move threatens Nigeria’s sovereignty. He also criticized recent remarks by former US President Donald Trump, calling them unacceptable.
He urged President Bola Tinubu to act quickly and show that the country will protect its people. Falana encouraged unions, civil society groups and ordinary citizens to stay alert and ready to push back if things worsen.
