  • Remo APC leaders have endorsed Governor Dapo Abiodun as their preferred Ogun East senatorial candidate for 2027.
  • They praised his record, citing infrastructure projects, economic growth, and investment attraction.
  • Local party officials say they are ready to mobilise grassroots support if he declares interest.

Leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State’s Remo division have endorsed Governor Dapo Abiodun as their preferred candidate for the Ogun East senatorial seat in the 2027 general election.

The announcement was made during a stakeholders’ meeting by Kola Ogunjobi, a member of the Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC), who said the decision followed wide consultations within the party.

According to Ogunjobi, the governor’s track record in office convinced party leaders he is the best choice. He highlighted achievements in infrastructure, education, security, housing, industrial growth, investment attraction, and social welfare.

He noted that Abiodun’s administration has built over 1,600 kilometres of roads, completed the Gateway International Airport, and created reforms that reportedly attracted more than 70% of Nigeria’s new manufacturing companies to Ogun State.

Grassroots Leaders Urge Him to Contest

Party officials from local government areas across Remoland pledged to mobilise strong grassroots support if the governor declares interest in the race.

Muri Awolaja, a senior APC figure from Sagamu LGA, described Abiodun as a capable leader and a worthy representative for Ogun East at the National Assembly.

Similarly, Muyiwa Sodade of Remo North and Jamiu Asimi of Ikenne appealed to the governor to heed what they called a popular demand, insisting residents of Remoland and the wider district are eager to see him represent them in the Senate.

Ogunjobi argued that if Abiodun could achieve significant development as governor, he could deliver even greater benefits to Ogun East if elected senator.

He said the endorsement was also a gesture of appreciation for what party leaders described as the governor’s impactful leadership.
