Justice Bamidele Fola Adeyeye of the Ondo State High Court has died at the age of 65, bringing to an end a distinguished legal career marked by years of service to the judiciary and the legal profession in Nigeria.

The death of the respected jurist was formally announced on Friday in Akure through a statement issued by the Chief Registrar of the Ondo State High Court, Ayodeji Akinsanya. According to the statement, Justice Adeyeye passed away on Thursday, March 12, 2026.

The Ondo State Judiciary described the late judge as a devoted and highly respected member of the bench whose career was defined by integrity, fairness, and an unwavering commitment to the rule of law.

During his time on the bench, he earned the admiration of colleagues, members of the legal profession, and the general public for his humility, sound legal reasoning, and impartial approach to justice.

In the statement, the judiciary paid tribute to his legacy, noting that Justice Adeyeye remained steadfast in upholding the principles of equity and justice throughout his years of service.

“Justice Adeyeye was a beacon of integrity, wisdom and dedication to the cause of justice. His years of service on the bench were marked by an unwavering commitment to fairness, equity and the rule of law,” the statement read.

The judiciary further noted that his contributions to strengthening the justice system in Ondo State would remain enduring. His passing, it added, represents a significant loss not only to the Ondo State Judiciary but also to the state and the Nigerian legal community at large.

Ondo State Judiciary Condoles with Justice Adeyeye

On behalf of the judges, magistrates, and staff of the Ondo State Judiciary, the Chief Registrar extended heartfelt condolences to the family of the late jurist, praying for the peaceful repose of his soul and strength for his loved ones during the period of mourning.

Justice Adeyeye was sworn in as a judge of the Ondo State High Court on September 8, 2011. Prior to his elevation to the bench, he had built a successful legal career in private practice.

He was the founder of the law firm Fola Adeyeye & Co., which he established in Okitipupa, Ondo State, where he gained recognition for his dedication to legal practice and service to the community.

Born on January 16, 1961, Justice Adeyeye spent decades contributing to the development of the legal profession before his passing. His legacy of integrity, professionalism, and commitment to justice is expected to remain a lasting influence within the Ondo State Judiciary and beyond.
