The Labour Party LP, has indicated that its 2027 presidential ticket will be zoned to Southern Nigeria. National Chairperson Nenadi Usman made the announcement in Abuja, describing the decision as a settled matter within the party.

According to Usman, the move by the LP is intended to provide clarity to prospective aspirants ahead of the next general election.

Despite the initial announcement, the LP later clarified that it has not formally zoned the presidency to any region. The party emphasized that candidates will be chosen through competitive and democratic processes, leaving room for aspirants from any part of the country to contest.

Preparations for 2027 Election Underway

The LP has scheduled its presidential primary for May 23, 2026, as it gears up for the 2027 general election.

LP officials are working to ensure the nomination process is transparent and inclusive, aiming to attract strong candidates and unify party members.
