The ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, is set for its national convention tomorrow at Eagle Square in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), with preparations now complete for the two-day event.

More than 8,453 delegates from the 36 states and the FCT are expected to attend, alongside representatives from the Nigerian Diaspora, to elect party officers and engage in strategic discussions. The venue has been decorated with banners and posters, reflecting the convention’s theme, “Unity in Progress – Consolidating the Renewed Hope Agenda.”

Mohammed Idris, Minister of Information and National Orientation and Co-Chairman of the Media Sub-committee for the convention, said the gathering will promote party cohesion and reflect on APC’s core values of unity, continuity, and purposeful leadership.

“The convention is not just a routine exercise, but a moment of reflection, consolidation, and planning,” Idris said. “It represents our collective resolve to strengthen democratic values, deepen internal governance, and align party processes with national development priorities.”

Idris added that the convention also highlights the party’s alignment with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s broader governance vision, emphasizing APC’s role as a platform for national cohesion and progressive ideals.

Masari Expresses Confidence in Committees’ Preparation

Aminu Bello Masari, Chairman of the Central Coordinating Committee and former governor of Katsina State, expressed confidence in the committees’ preparation, assuring delegates of a smooth and transparent convention. He dismissed claims that interested members were denied nomination forms to contest for party offices.

Other top party officials, including Minister of Arts, Culture, Tourism and Creative Economy Hannatu Musawa, Minister of Aviation Festus Kyamo, and Presidential Special Advisers Chief Sunday Dare and Bayo Onanuga, were present at a briefing to confirm that all operational frameworks were in place.

Eagle Square and surrounding roads have been decorated to welcome delegates, and hotels across Abuja have been booked to accommodate visitors. Security personnel are deployed across strategic locations to ensure a safe and orderly convention.

The APC convention is expected to reinforce party unity, showcase internal democracy, and chart a clear path for the party’s next phase of leadership and policy planning.
