Major General Aminu Bande (Rtd), who contested the 2023 governorship election in Kebbi State under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has formally resigned his membership from the opposition party.

In a resignation letter dated April 5, 2026, Bande announced that his decision takes immediate effect, bringing an end to his political association with the PDP after his role as the party’s governorship flagbearer in the last election cycle.

Explaining the reason for his departure, the retired Army General said the move was taken after consultations and in alignment with what he described as the collective decision of his people. According to him, the step is aimed at promoting good governance both in Kebbi State and across Nigeria.

Bande noted that his political future would be clarified in due course, suggesting that he may soon announce his next political move. However, he did not disclose whether he would join another political party or pursue an alternative political path.
