KEY POINTS

  • Aminu Goro has resigned from the APC and is set to join the ADC after consultations and political realignments.
  • The former lawmaker served from 2011 to 2023 and previously switched from PDP to APC before losing his seat in 2023.
  • He plans to formalise his new political alignment soon and continue consultations with supporters and allies.

A former member of the House of Representatives, Aminu Goro, has resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC) and announced plans to join the African Democratic Congress, ADC.

Goro, who represented Fagge Federal Constituency from 2011 to 2023, made the decision following what he described as extensive consultations and reflection on the evolving political landscape.

In a resignation letter dated April 11 and addressed to his ward leadership in Kano, Goro expressed appreciation to the APC for the opportunity to serve, noting that his decision was guided by a desire to continue serving his constituents effectively.

He said the move followed careful consideration of recent political changes and his commitment to remain impactful in public service.

Political journey marked by party switches

Goro began his legislative career under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) before defecting to the APC during his tenure.

However, his time in the National Assembly ended after he lost his seat in the 2023 general elections to Muhammad Bello of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP).

In a recent political shift in Kano, Bello, alongside Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, moved from the NNPP to the APC, altering the power dynamics within the party.

In a separate statement, Goro urged his supporters to remain calm and united as he prepares to formalise his move to the ADC.

He added that further consultations are ongoing and that he would soon announce plans for a courtesy visit to his political mentor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, as part of the next phase of his political journey.
