President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has emerged as the first contender for the 2027 presidential election after securing the nomination form of the All Progressives Congress (APC). This comes as the ruling party officially began the sale of its expression of interest and nomination forms.
The form was obtained on Tinubu’s behalf by Hon. James Faleke, a member of the House of Representatives representing Ikeja Federal Constituency. He completed the process shortly after the sales window opened, signaling early intent from the president’s camp.
N100 Million Fee Sparks Debate
The APC fixed the cost of the presidential nomination form at N100 million, a figure that has already attracted criticism from civil society organisations. Despite the controversy, Tinubu remains the only aspirant to have purchased the form so far.
The APC National Organising Secretary, Sulaiman Argungu, formally presented the nomination form to Faleke at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja.
