JAMB Fixes June 13 for Mop-Up UTME as Affected Candidates Get Second Chance

  • The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has fixed June 13, 2026, for the mop-up UTME for candidates affected by earlier exam disruptions.
  • Only biometrically verified candidates who could not sit for the main exam due to technical issues will be eligible.
  • JAMB warned that the mop-up is the final opportunity for the 2026 UTME cycle, with no further chances afterward.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, has scheduled June 13, 2026, for the conduct of the mop-up Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME, for candidates who were unable to sit for the main examination earlier in the year.

According to the board, the mop-up exercise is intended to give eligible candidates another opportunity to complete the admission examination process after disruptions recorded during the initial UTME cycle.

The 2026 UTME had earlier been conducted between April 16 and April 23 across approximately 966 computer-based test (CBT) centres nationwide.

JAMB explained that while the main examination was largely successful, some accredited CBT centres experienced technical difficulties that prevented a number of candidates from completing their exams.

These disruptions affected candidates who had already been biometrically verified but were unable to sit for the examination due to system failures or logistical challenges beyond their control.

The board said the mop-up exam is specifically designed to address such cases and ensure that no eligible candidate is unfairly left out of the admission process.

Eligibility Limited to Verified Candidates

According to a statement by JAMB spokesperson Fabian Benjamin, only candidates who were successfully biometrically verified during the main UTME exercise but could not write the exam will be allowed to participate in the mop-up test.

The board described the mop-up as the final phase of the 2026 UTME cycle, stressing that it is strictly for resolving outstanding cases involving candidates who had legitimately registered and presented themselves at examination centres.

JAMB also urged affected candidates to begin printing their examination notification slips from June 6, 2026, ahead of the scheduled exam date.

The examination body advised candidates scheduled for the mop-up UTME to take necessary preparations seriously, including printing their examination slips early and familiarising themselves with their assigned CBT centres.

It further encouraged candidates to plan their logistics in advance to avoid last-minute challenges that could affect their participation in the exam.

JAMB emphasised that this mop-up exercise represents the final opportunity for candidates to sit the 2026 UTME, warning that there will be no further chances after the exercise is concluded.
