The Senator representing Kogi Central, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has called on residents of Kogi State to take advantage of the ongoing Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC) registration and voter information update exercise being conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The lawmaker made the appeal in a public awareness message issued in Abuja, urging eligible residents to complete their registration before the July 10, 2026 deadline set by the electoral body.

Akpoti-Uduaghan particularly encouraged young people and first-time voters to register early and obtain their voter cards, stressing that active participation in elections remains a cornerstone of democracy.

According to her, the PVC is more than an identification document; it is a powerful tool that enables citizens to influence leadership choices and shape the future of their communities, state, and country.

She noted that every eligible citizen has a responsibility to participate in the democratic process and ensure their voice is heard through the ballot box.

Warning Against Voter Exclusion

The senator cautioned residents against waiting until the final days of the exercise before registering or updating their voter information.

She urged those who have recently attained voting age to register immediately, while individuals whose voter records require corrections, transfers, or updates should take advantage of the ongoing exercise before it closes.

According to her, no eligible citizen should be excluded from participating in elections due to failure to register or update their details on time.

Akpoti-Uduaghan also called on traditional rulers, community leaders, youth organisations, civil society groups, religious institutions, and other stakeholders to intensify awareness campaigns across Kogi State.

She said collective efforts are needed to encourage greater participation and ensure that more residents are registered ahead of future elections.

The senator urged families, friends, and community associations to motivate one another to take part in the registration exercise, describing civic participation as essential to a healthy democracy.
