President Bola Tinubu has appointed Osun State Gov. Ademola Adeleke as the state coordinator of the PBAT Presidential Campaign Council, according to a statement from a group backing the governor.
The Imole Campaign Council confirmed the development on Tuesday in a statement signed by its director general, Sen. Olalere Oyewumi.
The group said the appointment is well deserved and shows Tinubu’s confidence in Adeleke’s ability to deliver Osun in the presidential election.
“We assure the President that his confidence in the ability of Governor Adeleke to deliver Osun in the Presidential election will not be misplaced,” the council said.
A 1.5 million vote pledge
The council pledged unwavering commitment and a strong showing at the polls.
“We promise the President, just like Governor Adeleke had said some time ago, that we will deliver 1.5 million votes to ensure his victory in the coming Presidential election,” it said.
The statement refers to the presidential polls as taking place in January. The source does not explain that timing, so confirm the election date before publishing.
Opposition pushes back
A related report on the same site says the Allied Peoples Movement dismissed the appointment and argued that a Tinubu victory in Osun is not guaranteed.
Neither the presidency nor Adeleke himself was quoted in the statement. Consequently, the announcement currently rests on the council’s account alone.
