Tinubu Orders Security Forces to Expedite Rescue of Remaining Female University Students

Published on

President Bola Tinubu has issued a directive to national security agencies, instructing them to expedite efforts to safely rescue the remaining female students abducted from Federal University Gusau in Zamfara State. The students were recently taken hostage by individuals identified as terrorists.

In a detailed statement released by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, President Tinubu denounced the abductions as “unconscionable and reprehensible.” He emphasized that such egregious violations of human rights have no moral foundation, particularly when the victims are young women pursuing an education, a basic right that should be guaranteed to all citizens.

President Tinubu conveyed his most heartfelt condolences to the families who are grappling with the emotional toll of this deeply disturbing event. He took the opportunity to reassert that the cornerstone mission of his administration is the comprehensive safety and well-being of every single citizen residing within Nigeria’s borders.

In a fervent reaffirmation of his devotion to this public duty, President Tinubu gave assurance to the families of the abducted students that his government would leave no stone unturned; every available governmental asset and resource will be fully engaged to expedite the safe return of their loved ones.

Further expanding on his administration’s broader objectives, President Tinubu declared that the Federal Government remains steadfastly dedicated to ensuring that educational facilities across the country continue to function as safe havens for intellectual exploration, character development, and the unlocking of future opportunities for students. He emphasized that the sanctity of these institutions should, under no circumstances, be compromised by the terrorizing actions of extremist groups.

In order to fulfill this crucial mandate, the President explained that his administration is diligently formulating and implementing a multi-pronged strategy aimed at bolstering the overall security architecture within and around educational institutions.

This includes an increase in security personnel, the upgrading of surveillance systems, and partnerships with local communities for intelligence-gathering. Through these initiatives, he aims to fortify the country’s schools and academic environments against potential threats, thereby ensuring that students can pursue their educational aspirations free from the specter of violence and terror.
