Benue APC Launches Statewide Reconciliation Efforts

KEY POINTS

  • The Benue APC has initiated a reconciliation tour across 23 LGAs to address grievances and unify members.
  • APC’s caretaker chairman emphasized the commitment to restoring peace within the party ahead of upcoming elections.
  • The party is seeking media support to foster transparency and public awareness of their reconciliation efforts.

To resolve disputes between party members in the 23 Local Government Areas (LGAs) in Benue State, the All Progressives Congress (APC) formed a reconciliation committee.

Benjamin Omale, the chairman of the APC Caretaker Committee, claims that the committee is committed to bringing its members together and finding a peaceful way to settle internal disputes.

Over the weekend, Omale presented this concept to the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Benue State Council, which was chaired by Vincent Nyinongu.

However, he underlined the leadership’s dedication to party unity and confirmed that the committee’s six-month mandate is intended to accomplish these reconciliation goals throughout the state’s LGAs.

Committee’s efforts for unity

Omale explained that the newly formed reconciliation committee would travel to each of Benue’s 23 LGAs to meet and engage with aggrieved members.

He assured that the committee is dedicated to fulfilling its mandate before the end of its term.

“We are actively working to ensure the success of this initiative. By visiting each LGA, the committee can address grievances directly, bringing the party closer to a unified front,” he noted.

During his address, Omale also urged journalists to collaborate with the APC in presenting accurate and professional reporting, especially in efforts to showcase party unity and achievements.

Furthermore, he praised Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia for his efforts, describing his leadership as transformative and beneficial across multiple sectors.

NUJ pledges media support

The Secretary of the reconciliation committee, Prof. Bem Angwe, appealed to all APC members to put aside differences and support the peace-building mission.

According to Vanguard, he highlighted the committee’s focus on restoring harmony within the party, discouraging members from stirring internal conflicts.

Furthermore, NUJ Chairman Vincent Nyinongu said the union’s visit aimed to foster understanding with the APC’s leadership.

In addition, he also shared plans for the upcoming NUJ delegate elections, seeking to strengthen ties with the state’s ruling party.

Reinforcing the peace effort

The APC committee in Benue stresses the value of professionalism and unity in the media as it embarks on its healing effort.

Moreover, the committee’s mission is very clear: to unite party members around a single, peaceful agenda that supports the APC’s goals.
