KEY POINTS

  • Pastor Tobi Adegboyega speaks on reports about his imminent deportation to Nigeria.
  • But he assures supporters there is no cause for panic, telling Nigerians to be proud of him.
  • Adegboyega’s deportation comes after his church was accused of financial misconduct.

An immigration tribunal has ruled that the 44 year old, who previously led the Salvation Proclaimers Anointed Church, which was shut down due to allegations of financial misconduct, has lost his battle to stay in the UK.

This comes after she was convicted over financial irregularities with his church and investigators uncovered that £1.87 million had been misappropriated with the church ordered to close.

Meanwhile, in a statement, Pastor Adegboyega also cleared the air on a viral photo of him posing with Naira Marley a couple of months ago.
But Adegboyega is defiant, responding to the row with a short message promising his supporters not to worry.

“I’m doing this because our friends, our fans, and people who are worried,” he told his followers in an Instagram post. I’m just here at home, no need to worry about anything. Things to do with retrogression naturally fall by the wayside.

I have survived all sorts, the matter they are propagating is the smallest of matters, and Nigerians should be proud of me, ‘Adegboyega added. No panic. Nobody can do anything but I love London city, it’s my city,” he said.

A legal battle and a deportation saga

A recent immigration tribunal found that the pastor’s removal from the UK would not infringe on his human rights.

Adegboyega’s supporters remain by him as the case continues to make headlines alongside reassurances from him that he is unshaken and undaunted about his next precious bouts.

Connection to John Boyega

For his part, Adegboyega is also known for being linked to Star Wars actor John Boyega, who is his cousin. The controversy of his deportation saga continues playing out, and his family ties and high profile connections have kept him in the public eye.
