Ahead of the yuletide season, the Benue State Police Commissioner, Mr. Steve Yabanet, directed the deployment of police men to worship centres, event centres and popular roads across the State.
The proactive measure is to prevent untoward incidents thereby allowing residents to celebrate the festive period freely from any crime.
The Commissioner also said Area Commanders, Tactical Commanders and Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) must ensure effective security of their jurisdictions, while also directing that security should be tight in all entry and exit points, Public Relations Officer of the Command SP Catherine Anene said.
Resident urged to coopate with security measures
The Commissioner similarly ordered a ban on the sale and use of fireworks and ‘knockouts,’ which, he said, could spark panic and conceal criminal activities. They advise parents and guardians to caution children from using such items.
The police encourage residents to alert them to any large gatherings to ensure such gatherings are safe.

CP Yabanet also felicitated residents who said the Command is committed to ensuring residents’ safety through the Christmas and New Year celebrations.
