Edo Governor Submits Six Commissioner Nominees to State Assembly

Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State has submitted six names to the state House of Assembly for confirmation as commissioners.

This was disclosed in a letter signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Umar Ikhilor, and addressed to the legislative body.

The nominees are Hon. Paul Ohonbamu, Dr. Paddy Iyamu, Washington Osifo, Sir Lucky Eseigbe, Andrew Ijegbai, and Barrister Marie Olabisi Idaomi.

The governor appealed to the Assembly to speed up the process of confirmation to allow the new commissioners to start their work early enough.

Nominees introduced for vital state roles

The letter titled “Request for the Confirmation of Commissioners” emphasized the significance of these appointments.

It stated, “I write at the instance of the Governor of Edo, Monday Okpebholo, to forward for the consideration and confirmation of the Assembly, the underlisted names as Commissioner designates.”

According to Vanguard, Governor Okpebholo expressed optimism that the Assembly would act swiftly, noting the nominees’ credentials align with his administration’s vision for Edo State.

Assembly urged to expedite the confirmation process

The governor’s request is in line with his administration’s intentions to transform the governance structure that qualified persons will formulate.

He conveyed his regards to the Assembly members and appreciated them in advance for their compliance.

The proposed commissioners will contribute to various sectors to enhance the governor’s developmental agenda for the state.

Their confirmation will go a long way to enhancing the composition of the executive team and hence the delivery of services in Edo State.
