EFCC Chair Criticizes Nigerians for Defending Corrupt Leaders

The Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Ola Olukoyede is troubled by the Nigerian public who criticize corruption but protect corrupt leaders from prosecution.

The EFCC chairman used his Abuja presentation for CCC visitors to describe the conflicting public responses to corruption.

According to Mr. Ola Olukoyede the public support of famous individuals during corruption trials leads to diminishing the national financial crime efforts.

The executive official demanded enhanced public and governmental working relations to develop effective ways to fight corruption.

Development faces its main impediment from corruption

Olukoyede declared corruption as the main impediment to Nigeria’s development progress while stressing that anti-financial crime initiatives would boost national advancement.

The EFCC president highlighted organizational accountability and integrity through an example of administrative operations that led to a dismissal of 27 officers due to misconduct.

The EFCC aims to boost public awareness through their strategic alliances with CCC and other organizations to develop transparency-based governance through civic responsibility practices.
