43,923 Candidates Score Five Credits in 2024 WAEC Exam

WAEC has made public the 2024 second series results of WASSCE West African Senior School Certificate Examination for private candidates.

Among the 43,923 successful candidates who made up 67.55 percent of the total candidates received credit or better scores in at least five subjects.

Improved success rate in key subjects

The Acting Head of WAEC Public Affairs Moyosola Adesina revealed that the 65,023 exam participants resulted in 34,878 candidates (53.64 percent) who passed five subjects including English and Mathematics.

Trends in academic performance show positive developments as WASSCE for private candidates achieved better results this year and the previous two years.

WAEC conducted the examination in 5,067 testing facilities nationwide through paper-based and computer-based systems. The examined candidates consisted of 31,504 males and 33,519 females who made up 51.55 percent of all participants.

The examination board kept both pending and withheld marks from candidates because of found irregularities.

WAEC produced complete result outcomes for 62,354 candidates who were participating in the exam and another 2,669 candidates faced result delays due to submission errors. WAEC permanently held the results of 2,577 candidates for committing academic misconduct at their examinations.

The board created the Notice of Examination Malpractice Portal which allows candidates with withheld results to file official statements about their individual situations.
