The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Joint Campus Committee in Osun State has issued a stern warning to former members attempting to falsely claim leadership within the organization.

In a statement released in Osogbo, NANS JCC Osun Chairman, Solomon Ayobami, urged the public to disregard any individuals masquerading as NANS leaders in the state, emphasizing that the organization will no longer tolerate such impersonation.

Crackdown on impersonators

According to Ayobami, there are many people including some that are no longer students but have come forward claiming to be leaders of NANS JCC.

He stated, “We are aware of certain people, many of whom have graduated, parading as leaders of NANS JCC in Osun. These are impostors and should be disregarded.”

Ayobami also called on security agencies to pursue these claims and do whatever is necessary against such people.

However, the warning is a new stand against impersonation in NANS Osun as the organisation seeks to establish and safeguard its integrity.

Furthermore, Ayobami stated that such impersonators’ actions have negative effects of the group’s reputation with ensuing consequences on the association’s capacity to articulate student interests.

New leadership vision for Osun NANS

In addition to addressing the issue of impersonation, Ayobami outlined his vision for the organization’s future, prioritizing student welfare and engagement.

Moreover, the current administration aims to introduce policies that focus on empowering students in Osun, ensuring open communication and transparency within the organization.

“We are committed to creating a transparent and accountable administration that values the voices of all students,” Ayobami stated.

According to Punch, his leadership goals also include revitalizing NANS JCC Osun, restoring it as a strong student-led organization that advocates for student rights and drives meaningful changes.

Ayobami emphasized that under his administration, the association will renew its mission of serving students and creating a united body capable of shaping policies that address the interests and needs of the student community.

Commitment to student empowerment

Ayobami’s statement reiterated his administration’s dedication to fostering a culture of inclusivity, where every student feels represented and supported.

Furthermore, plans for the organization include initiatives to bridge gaps between students and available resources, equipping students with the tools needed for success.
