This sad event happened in Kogi State of Nigeria when a boat with a capacity to carry not more than 200 passengers capsized in the Niger River. The vessel that the victims boarded from one of the rural communities in the state capsized in unclear circumstances taking the lives of over eight persons.

Kogi State is one of the largely populated States in Nigeria and the boat in question that capsized was taking many passengers from one point to the other across one of the state’s major rivers at the time the mishap happened.
