Pro-Government Group to Counter NLC’s Telecom Tariff Protest

The Nigeria Citizen Watch for Good Governance (NCWGG) declared plans to rally against the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) because of its planned nation-wide protests against the upcoming February 4 telecom rate boost by 50 percent.

According to NCWGG leader Collins Eshiofeh Idowu’s recent statement the NCC’s rise in telecom rates should be supported because it protects jobs alongside sustaining the telecom industry and supporting service delivery.

The organization condemned NLC’s economic damage while stating that service interruptions and job reduction could result from dismissing tariff adjustments.

Telecom pricing and sector sustainability

NCWGG expressed disappointment with the NLC because the organization neglected to weigh telecom operator operational difficulties such as rising costs and infrastructure requirements.

Members of the group stated their intention to organize supporters nationwide for the purpose of stopping interruptions during the forthcoming labor strike.

The organization maintains that this rate hike would build up the sector along with continuous service delivery while upholding economic sustainable development.
