El-Rufai Declares Tinubu Rejected His Ministerial Position

Published on

KEY POINTS

  • According to El-Rufai Tinubu stood against his ministerial appointment rather than the National Assembly.
  • The former governor challenges security-related scrutiny by calling it empty and asking for evidence to support it.
  • The APC leadership receives criticism from El-Rufai because it has become unprogressive through inactivity.

Nasir El-Rufai formerly led Kaduna State when he stated President Bola Tinubu took personal responsibility for keeping him out of the ministerial role.

According to El-Rufai during his  interview on Monday he refuted claims of security-related rejection by showing that Tinubu personally rescinded his ministerial nomination.

Former Governor Nasir El-Rufai questioned the claims of Senate opposition by presenting evidence that President Bola Tinubu personally discontinued his candidacy for ministerial selection.

El-Rufai announced that he received confirmation about ministerial selection after comprehensive dialogue sessions as an original APC member. Tinubu allegedly decided to rescind his support for Masari’s nomination even though many reports stated that the Senate stopped the Senate from confirming his position.

The National Assembly played no part in this matter. According to him, the president chose not to include him in his cabinet because he specified requirements as part of his acceptance of the position.

The previous governor raised doubts about the security-related factors that served as justification for omitting him from public office. The National Assembly never explained which security matter prevented me from their approval.

He demanded to see the security report which showed issues against his position in the cabinet. Tinubu assisted these newer appointees to get their positions in the government structure.

Criticism of APC leadership

El-Rufai criticized the APC’s leadership since Tinubu took office by alleging that they had failed to support party structures. The party which used to champion progressive values has given up internal democratic practices according to El-Rufai.

My worries pertain to the leadership structure of the party at present. He states that no party institutions operate effectively since Tinubu won the election two years ago.The state of internal division among APC supporters together with the president’s approach toward loyal party members becomes more apparent through these revelations.
