KEY POINTS

  • Temi Otedola’s wedding cost $15 million across three countries.
  • The trilogy blended Yoruba tradition, intimacy, and global luxury.
  • Temi Otedola’s wedding drew African billionaires and global icons.

In a display that merged private intimacy with international grandeur, Nigerian billionaire Femi Otedola spent $15 million on his daughter Temi Otedola’s wedding to Afrobeats singer Tosin Ajibade, better known as Mr. Eazi. The trilogy of ceremonies, held in Monaco, Dubai, and Iceland, marked the most expensive wedding in Africa’s history and set a new benchmark for high-society celebrations on the continent.

Temi Otedola’s wedding begins in Monaco

The story opens in Monte Carlo on May 9, 2025, when Temi and Eazi exchange vows at the Hôtel de Ville de Monaco. The date carried special weight, chosen to honour what would have been Eazi’s late mother’s 61st birthday. With only four people present, the couple, Temi’s assistant, and one of Eazi’s closest friends, the civil ceremony was strikingly modest compared to what would follow.

Temi, known for her understated elegance, wore a simple white Wiederhoeft suit complemented with L’Oréal makeup, while Eazi chose a regal-inspired Louis Vuitton suit. The couple ended the day with a quiet dinner at Hôtel de Paris, staying in a suite overlooking the Monte Carlo Casino. It was an intimate prelude to the grandeur ahead.

Global icons gather in Dubai

By July 5, the celebration moved to Dubai, where the Otedola family villa in Dubai Hills Estate hosted a traditional Yoruba engagement. Though just 80 guests attended, the guest list carried the influence of a business summit. Billionaires Aliko Dangote and Abdul Samad Rabiu joined tech leaders such as Shola Akinlade, Iyinoluwa Aboyeji, and Chika Nwobi.

The engagement was both cultural and global. Guests wore burgundy aso ebi, while the couple appeared in five different outfits by Zac Posen, Miss Sohee, and Lisa Folawiyo, who incorporated akwa ocha fabric to honor Eazi’s maternal heritage. The evening peaked with King Sunny Ade’s performance, before Diplo and DJ Edu turned the villa into an afterparty that matched international festival standards.

Iceland finale crowns Temi Otedola wedding

According to Billionaire Africa, the trilogy concluded on Aug. 8 in Reykjavík, where fewer than 80 guests attended a white wedding at Hallgrímskirkja Cathedral. Temi wore a custom Fendi gown with Briony Raymond jewelry before changing into a House of Giles dress for the reception at Kleif Farm. A storm had destroyed the original glass tent days before, but Otedola arranged for it to be rebuilt with materials flown in by a chartered cargo plane.

French pianist Sofiane Pamart opened the night, followed by John Legend, who performed as the couple shared their first dances. Guests later gathered at the Edition Hotel before traveling to Hamsvik Hot Springs, where the northern lights framed the trilogy’s close in breathtaking style.

Altogether, the Temi Otedola wedding struck a balance between tradition and spectacle, intimacy and global reach. For Otedola, whose $1.5 billion fortune places him among Nigeria’s most powerful business figures, it was more than extravagance, it was an enduring cultural statement that extended his influence beyond the financial world into Africa’s evolving story of wealth and celebration.
