FCSC Pledges Smoother CBT Exams Amid Transition

Key Points

  • FCSC CBT exam challenges acknowledged publicly.

  • Decentralised centres planned for better accessibility.

  • Duty Tour Allowance may support travelling officers.

The Federal Civil Service Commission (FCSC) has asked people to be patient as it works through problems that come up because it is switching from paper exams to a fully digital platform. Officials say the changes are meant to make the experience better for candidates while keeping the integrity of the exam.

Public acknowledgement of FCSC CBT exam challenges

Taiwo Hassan, who signed the statement on behalf of the Commission’s Chairman, acknowledged the problems that candidates had to deal with. It pointed to recent social media posts that talked about problems with studying and taking tests, showing that the Commission is aware of the issues and is working on solutions.

Decentralised centres planned to make it easier to get to them

The FCSC said it would decentralise examination centres across Nigeria’s 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory to make the process easier. We are also looking into technology-based solutions to make future tests easier and more accessible for all candidates.

The Commission said that the Head of the Civil Service is still in charge of talks about allowing eligible officers who are travelling outside of their duty stations to claim Duty Tour Allowance (DTA) while taking exams. This project is in line with Public Service Rule 140107 and the current Financial Regulations, as long as there are enough resources.

A promise to be fair and open

FCSC stressed that it was committed to keeping the exam process fair and trustworthy. Using Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) facilities in the Federal Capital Territory is a smart way to keep things open and honest while putting the needs of candidates first.

FCSC said, “There are always gaps with new ideas, and moving from manual exams to CBT is hard for both the Commission and the candidates.” Officials ended by saying again that they are committed to making the Directorate CBT promotion exam process better all the time.
