  • Some inbound flights were delayed or diverted, including a London flight redirected to Abuja.
  • Authorities say no injuries have been reported as emergency crews continue containment efforts.

Operations were disrupted at Terminal 1 of Murtala Muhammed International Airport after a fire engulfed parts of the fourth and fifth floors.

The fire incident reportedly began on one floor before spreading to nearby sections, forcing authorities to immediately evacuate affected areas as a precautionary measure.

Flights Delayed and Diverted

Air traffic controllers in the tower were alerted promptly and remained safe while monitoring the fire.

Incoming flights scheduled for Lagos were instructed to delay departure from their origin airports, while aircraft already airborne faced possible holding patterns. One London-to-Lagos flight was diverted to Abuja.

Firefighters from the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria are actively working to contain the fire and limit damage.

Officials confirmed that no casualties have been recorded so far, and investigations into the cause of the fire are ongoing.
