Key Points

  • ADC chieftain Kenneth Okonkwo accuses President Tinubu’s government of corruption and politicizing national security.
  • Okonkwo says the administration has failed to implement effective security measures, leaving Nigerians vulnerable to violence.
  • The remarks add to growing public pressure on the Tinubu-led government over insecurity and economic hardship.

Kenneth Okonkwo, a lawyer and chieftain of the African Democratic Congress, has launched a sharp attack on President Bola Tinubu’s administration, accusing it of corruption, governance failure and treating ordinary Nigerians as second-class citizens.

Okonkwo blasts government on security and corruption

Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today program, Okonkwo said the administration has politicized every aspect of governance, including national security, to the detriment of the Nigerian people.

“This lame, incompetent, lying, and corrupt government. The only thing they do is to politicize everything they do, including security,” Okonkwo said.

He also expressed doubt that the Tinubu administration would follow through on establishing state police, a reform many Nigerians have demanded as a solution to worsening insecurity. “I told you that the state police will not come.

Tinubu will continue to play the politics of it. Tinubu is incapable of solving the insecurity problem,” he said.

Betrayal of public trust

Okonkwo went further, accusing the government of prioritizing personal and political interests over citizen welfare, describing the administration as part of a broader criminal enterprise.

“The government is now part of the criminal gang that is buying and selling Nigerians,” he said.

He maintained that ordinary citizens are being exploited under policies he described as self-serving and harmful to national progress.

Criticism mounts on Tinubu administration

Okonkwo’s remarks come amid widespread public frustration over rising insecurity, economic hardship and perceived mismanagement across multiple sectors of government.

His comments add to mounting pressure on the Tinubu-led administration as calls for accountability and urgent governance reforms continue to grow across Nigeria.
