Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has indicated he may leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) amid deepening internal crises and factional disputes within the opposition party.

The governor described the PDP as “headless,” suggesting that the party lacks direction and cohesion. He also confirmed holding discussions with a delegation of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), fuelling speculation about a possible defection.

Mohammed revealed that committees have been established to examine available political options, including potential engagement with the All Progressives Congress (APC). According to him, the priority is to align with a platform capable of uniting opposition forces ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Consultations Ongoing as Governor Criticises PDP Leadership

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, alleging that he has taken control of the PDP’s structure. He noted that consultations are ongoing and a formal decision regarding his political future will be announced soon.

Meanwhile, ADC chieftain Babachir Lawal welcomed Mohammed’s engagement with the party, stressing the need for unity among Nigerians to confront the country’s economic and security challenges.
