KEY POINTS

  • APC will begin selling nomination forms for the 2027 elections on April 25, with submission closing on May 4.
  • Presidential aspirants are required to pay a total of N100 million for forms.
  • The party will use a hybrid system of direct and consensus primaries, with elections scheduled between May 15 and May 23.

The All Progressives Congress, APC, has unveiled its timetable and guidelines for the 2027 general elections, detailing key dates for the sale of forms, screenings, and primaries.

The party fixed the cost of expression of interest and nomination forms for presidential aspirants at N30 million and N70 million respectively, bringing the total to N100 million

APC says it will use a combination of direct and consensus primaries, with consensus requiring agreement from all aspirants or defaulting to direct primaries.

Speaking after the 186th National Working Committee (NWC) meeting, APC Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Yakubu Murtala Ajaka Meseko, said the sale of forms will run from April 25 to May 2, while the deadline for submission is May 4.

Screening of governorship and legislative aspirants to take place from May 6

He further outlined that screening for governorship and legislative aspirants will take place from May 6 to May 8, while presidential aspirants will be screened on May 9.

The party also released dates for its primaries: House of Representatives primaries are scheduled for May 15, Senate primaries for May 18, and State Assembly primaries for May 20. Governorship primaries will hold on May 21, while the presidential primary is slated for May 23.

Meseko dismissed claims that the forms would only be available to selected individuals, insisting that the process is open to all interested party members.

He explained that the APC would adopt a hybrid primary model, combining direct and consensus approaches. Under this system, consensus candidates must be agreed upon by all aspirants; otherwise, the party will revert to direct primaries.
