- The board identified inconsistencies in the format, template, and registration number
- Nigerians were advised to verify results only through official JAMB platforms and ignore false information
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, has dismissed as false a widely circulated Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination result slip claiming that a candidate scored 394 out of 400 in the 2026 exam.
The result, which surfaced on social media, alleged that a female candidate identified as Okon Winniefred Sampson achieved the near-perfect score. However, JAMB has clarified that the document is entirely fabricated.
In a statement issued by its spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, the board expressed concern over how quickly the false result gained traction, even among educated members of the public.
According to JAMB, the viral result slip does not conform to its official format and contains multiple discrepancies that clearly indicate it is not authentic.
Discrepancies in the fake document
The examination body explained that UTME results are currently only accessible through its official checking platforms and remain strictly view-only at this stage. As such, any downloadable or printed result slip in circulation should be treated with suspicion.
JAMB further noted that the template used for the fake result is not recognised within its system, adding that this alone is enough to invalidate the document.
It also pointed out that the registration number displayed on the slip does not align with its standard format. In particular, the presence of the irregular “20269” sequence was highlighted as a clear indication of manipulation.
The board emphasised that even a basic review of the document reveals several inconsistencies that expose it as fraudulent.JAMB urged Nigerians to disregard the fake result and avoid spreading unverified information, stressing the importance of relying only on its official communication channels for updates on UTME results.
The board reiterated that all legitimate results remain accessible only through its designated platforms and that no official result slips have been issued for download or print at this stage.
