  • Atiku Abubakar, Rotimi Amaechi, and Mohammed Hayatu-Deen have obtained ADC presidential nomination forms ahead of the 2027 election.
  • Hayatu-Deen pledged to focus on insecurity, job creation, and reducing economic hardship if elected.
  • INEC has fixed January 16, 2027, for the presidential election and released the timetable for party primaries and campaigns.

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, ex-Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi, and businessman Mohammed Hayatu-Deen have obtained the African Democratic Congress (ADC) expression of interest and nomination forms ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

The National Publicity Secretary of the ADC, Bolaji Abdullahi, confirmed that the three aspirants had already secured the forms from the party.

“Yes, the three of them — Atiku, Amaechi and Hayatu-Deen — have obtained the forms,” Abdullahi said.

The ADC fixed the cost of its presidential nomination form at N90 million, with the sale of forms scheduled to run from May 6 to May 13, 2026.

Hayatu-Deen Promises Security, Economic Recovery

Mohammed Hayatu-Deen, who formally received his form from the party’s National Organising Secretary, Chinedu Idigo, said his campaign would focus on tackling insecurity, unemployment, and the rising cost of living affecting Nigerians.

According to him, many Nigerians are currently struggling with economic hardship and fear caused by insecurity across different parts of the country.

“Nigerians are tired of living in fear. They are tired of watching businesses struggle, jobs disappear, and the cost of basic necessities rise beyond what ordinary people can afford,” he said.

Hayatu-Deen added that the 2027 election should focus on rebuilding economic confidence, creating jobs, and restoring security nationwide.

“We cannot build prosperity in an atmosphere of fear and instability. Security is the foundation upon which every strong economy is built,” he stated.

Meanwhile, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced January 16, 2027, as the date for the presidential and National Assembly elections.

The commission also fixed February 6, 2027, for governorship and state House of Assembly elections.

INEC disclosed that party primaries and the resolution of related disputes would hold between April 23 and May 30, 2026.

According to the electoral body, campaigns for presidential and National Assembly elections will begin on August 19, 2026, while governorship and state assembly campaigns are scheduled to commence on September 9, 2026.
