Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, has officially declared his intention to seek a fifth term in the National Assembly ahead of the 2027 general election.

Abbas, who has represented Zaria Federal Constituency in Kaduna State since 2011, made the announcement during a political rally held in Zaria on Saturday.

The lawmaker, who is a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), said his decision to seek another term was based on his track record and the development projects he has facilitated in his constituency over the years.

“Today, I formally declare my intention to seek another mandate to represent the good people of Zaria federal constituency in the House of Representatives,” Abbas said.

“This declaration is not based on promises alone. It is based on work and results. It is based on a record that our people can see and verify.”

Speaker Highlights Projects Across Constituency

Abbas said his representation has focused on delivering practical benefits to residents through interventions in agriculture, transportation, education, healthcare, and security.

According to him, farmers in the constituency received tractors, fertilisers, and agricultural equipment to support food production and economic growth.

He also stated that transport operators, youth groups, party members, community leaders, and small business owners benefited from the distribution of tricycles, motorcycles, and vehicles aimed at improving livelihoods and mobility.

“We expanded these interventions on a larger scale by distributing 117 vehicles, 200 tricycles, and 1,000 motorcycles across communities, support groups, religious leaders, polling unit structures, and grassroots stakeholders,” he said.

The Speaker described his approach as “practical representation,” insisting that public office should directly improve the lives of citizens.

He pledged to continue pursuing development projects and strengthening the constituency’s influence at the national level if re-elected.

“I am ready to continue this work. I am ready to deepen the progress we have made. I am ready to continue representing you with dignity, focus, and results,” Abbas stated.

He added that the campaign was not about personal ambition but about ensuring greater opportunities and stronger representation for the people of Zaria Federal Constituency.

Abbas also appealed to voters in the constituency to support his re-election bid in the upcoming general election.
