Leaders and stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress in Ogun East Senatorial District have endorsed Dapo Abiodun as the party’s consensus candidate for the 2027 Senate election.
The endorsement was announced during a well-attended meeting held at Adeola Odutola Hall in Ijebu-Ode, where party leaders, elected officials, and grassroots representatives gathered to deliberate on the district’s political direction.
The event drew members of the Governor’s Advisory Council, local government chairmen and executives, lawmakers past and present, councillors from the nine local government areas, ward leaders, as well as women and youth representatives.
Stakeholders cite leadership record behind endorsement
Speaking on behalf of the stakeholders, Lekan Mustapha said the decision reflects a shared belief in Abiodun’s ability to effectively represent the district at the Senate.
He disclosed that a delegation would be constituted to formally communicate the endorsement to the governor and facilitate the purchase of his nomination forms ahead of the 2027 elections.
Also speaking, Tokunbo Talabi described the endorsement as unanimous and historic, attributing it to Abiodun’s governance record and efforts in maintaining party unity.
Meanwhile, Femi Ogunbanwo noted that the governor’s administration has fostered development and stability across the state, adding that his emergence as a senatorial candidate could attract more federal opportunities to Ogun East.
The meeting was attended by prominent APC figures, including Gbenga Kaka, Adedoyin Adeleke, and other party elders, who collectively reaffirmed their support for the governor’s candidacy.
