The Borno South Youth Alliance has raised alarm over a 72-hour ultimatum reportedly issued by Boko Haram concerning about 416 abducted persons in Borno State.

The group called for urgent intervention from government authorities, philanthropists, and other stakeholders as efforts continue to secure the release of women and children kidnapped from Ngoshe community.

In a statement signed by its president, Samaila Ibrahim Kaigama, the group disclosed that information received during ongoing mediation indicated that the insurgents had issued a final warning.

N5bn ransom demand complicates rescue efforts

According to the statement, Boko Haram has demanded a ransom of N5 billion for the release of the captives and has reportedly communicated conditions for how the process would be carried out.

The group described the situation as a critical humanitarian crisis, noting that the ultimatum has heightened fears for the safety of the abducted women and children.

BOSYA appealed to Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Kashim Shettima, and Babagana Umara Zulum to take immediate action to address the crisis.

The group also urged prominent Nigerians, including Aliko Dangote and Abdul Samad Rabiu, to support efforts aimed at securing the release of the victims.

Describing the situation as urgent, the group emphasised the need for collective action, compassion, and unity to prevent further harm to those in captivity.
