  • Rivers Governor Siminalayi Fubara denied rumours that he defected from the APC to another party.
  • He urged the public to avoid spreading misinformation and reaffirmed his loyalty to the APC.
  • Fubara also inspected newly completed healthcare projects in Rivers State aimed at improving medical services for residents.

Governor Siminalayi Fubara has dismissed rumours claiming that he defected to the National Democratic Congress, insisting that he remains a loyal member of the All Progressives Congress.

Fubara made the clarification on Wednesday during an inspection tour of the newly completed General Hospital and the remodelled Neuropsychiatric Hospital located in Rumuigbo, Obiakpor Local Government Area of Rivers State.

The governor said reports suggesting that he had abandoned the APC were false and driven by misinformation circulating across social media platforms and some media outlets.

“I know that there’s been a lot of drama in the media, one story and another. I’m a member of the All Progressive Congress, and nothing has changed,” Fubara stated.

Fubara urged members of the public and political commentators to verify information before spreading reports capable of misleading people or creating unnecessary political tension.

According to him, some individuals have continued to misrepresent situations and twist narratives based on personal interpretations and unverified social media claims.

“People should stop using whatever situation that they pick up from social media or their own interpretation of any situation to present me wrongly,” he said.

The governor further reaffirmed his loyalty to the ruling party, stressing that he had no intention of leaving the APC.

“I have not gone anywhere. I’m still a member of the All Progressive Congress, and I remain a member,” he added.

Fubara calls for unity and focus within APC

Speaking further, the Rivers governor emphasised the importance of unity within the party, noting that political interests should be guided by collective goals rather than personal ambitions.

He said party members must remain focused on protecting the overall interest of the APC and sustaining internal cooperation.

“Whatever happens, what is most important is supporting the overall interests of the party,” Fubara said.

uring the visit, the governor inspected facilities at the newly completed General Hospital and the rehabilitated Neuropsychiatric Hospital alongside officials from the Rivers State Ministry of Health.

The Director of Medical Services in the ministry, Dr. Vincent Wachukwu, conducted Fubara round several sections of the facilities, including hospital wards, an ICT centre, conference hall, students’ hostel, and staff quarters.

Fubara expressed satisfaction with the completion of the projects, describing them as critical interventions aimed at improving healthcare delivery in the state.

He explained that the decision to rehabilitate the psychiatric hospital and establish a general hospital in the area was informed by the healthcare challenges facing residents of surrounding communities.

According to him, residents previously depended heavily on the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital, which he described as too far for many people in the area.

“We felt that with the space we have in this compound, it will be proper for us to also have a General Hospital situated in this particular facility to take care of the neighboring communities up to Rumuola, Rumuolumeni and all the surrounding areas,” he said.

The governor added that the project had now been fully completed and fulfilled the promises made by his administration.
