Residents and students at Government Girls Secondary School, Oke-Oyi in Ilorin East Local Government Area were briefly thrown into panic following reports of a supposed bandit invasion.

The Kwara State Police Command responded immediately by deploying officers to the scene to verify the claim and secure the area.

Authorities later confirmed that there was no attack, no bandit sighting, and no security breach in Oke-Oyi or surrounding communities.

Police Move to Track and Prosecute Source of Rumour

Commissioner of Police Ojo Adekimi condemned the spread of false security information and ordered an investigation to identify and prosecute the individual responsible.

Police spokesperson Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi warned that unverified information can cause unnecessary panic and divert security resources.
