The sprawling cityscape of Douala, Cameroon, was further beautified with the inauguration of the multimillion-naira Abuja Market plaza.

The grandeur project, realized by Nigerian philanthropist Alhaji Abba Mustafa, was commissioned by the Consul-General of Nigeria to Douala, Ambassador (HRM) Queen Efe A. Clark-Omeru.

The market, strategically located in the heart of Douala, Cameroon’s commercial capital, is expected to bridge the gap between two neighboring nations, Nigeria and Cameroon.

Both countries share historical ties and significant migration patterns, with over five million Nigerians calling Cameroon home.

Ambassador Clark-Omeru lauded Alhaji Abba for his vision and dedication in establishing the expansive plaza. “This facility symbolizes unity, collaboration, and the strengthening of diplomatic ties between our nations.

Not only will it generate revenue through rents, but it will also create job opportunities benefiting Nigerians and Cameroonians residing here,” stated the Consul General.

Further echoing her sentiments on the significance of this project, she mentioned, “It is not just an infrastructure development, but a testament to the amicable relations between our countries. Such investments will undoubtedly lure more tourists to Douala and amplify Foreign Direct Investment (FDI).”

In a heartfelt address, the Ambassador highlighted Alhaji Abba’s selflessness.

“You’ve thought beyond personal gains and envisioned a structure that serves the Adamawa state, Nigeria, and Cameroon. Your legacy will be etched in the annals of history.”

Expressing gratitude to the Cameroon authorities, she commended them for nurturing a spirit of brotherhood and providing Alhaji Abba with the opportunity to realize this dream project.

Her appeal to Nigerians in Cameroon was direct and clear, “Be the ambassador of peace, unity, and collaboration. Reflect the goodwill and reputation that Alhaji Mustafa has demonstrated.”

A visibly humbled Alhaji Abba Mustafa thanked the Nigeria Consul General for gracing the event. “I am indebted to Ambassador Clark-Omeru for honoring our invitation and all the attendees who have made this day monumental. May the Almighty ensure everyone’s safe return,” he conveyed.

While the festivities continued, Ismaila Adegbola, CEO of ND Group, emphasized the broader implications of the Abuja Market plaza. He highlighted the employment potential and implored the Nigerian government to recognize Alhaji Abba’s monumental contributions. “Such accomplishments should not go unnoticed. We hope the Federal Government will honor Alhaji Abba with a national award, symbolizing his pivotal role in enriching the lives of Nigerians in Cameroon,” Adegbola stated.

The Abuja Market Plaza stands not just as a testament to infrastructure development but as a beacon of unity, collaboration, and shared prosperity between two nations.
