Peak Milk Celebrates Nigeria’s Paralympic Powerlifting Champions

Peak Milk, the biggest dairy firm in Nigeria has rewarded the country’s para powerlifting team after their remarkable display during the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.

The team contributed four of the seven medals that Nigeria got in the competition which included two gold and two silver.

At the event, two Nigerian weightlifters, Onyinyechi Mark and Folashade Oluwafemiayo emerged winners in then 61kg and 86kg lifts respectively. At the same time, two volleyball players took the silver medal: Esther Nworgu in the 41 kg category and Bose Omolayo in the 79 kg category.

A celebration of excellence

As a way of appreciating these athletes, the management of Peak Milk presented Mark and Oluwafemiayo with ₦2 million each while Nworgu and Omolayo received ₦1 million each. Other prize winners featured in the competition also received ₦500,000 with assorted Peak milk and other Peak milk products.

Peak Milk’s Marketing Manager, Omolara Banjoko praised the team and their efforts. “Their performance at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games demonstrates their focus and determination. It is something that makes us proud to see that we have won four medals,” she said.

The power of partnership

This is not the first time that Peak Milk has sponsored the para powerlifting team of Nigeria. Since 2016 the brand has partnered with the Nigerian Para Powerlifting Federation under the “Unstoppables” campaign which aims at inspiring these athletes to be unstoppable as they conquer the world even though they are socially and physically disabled.

According to a report by Punch, Maureen Ifada, the Marketing Director at FrieslandCampina WAMCO, which is the parent company of Peak, explained how this partnership had developed.

”Our idea when we started the ‘Unstoppables’ initiative was simple: to support the athletes in their quest in achieving great feats. We are amazed at how far we have covered collectively.”

Aiming for the future

FrieslandCampina WAMCO’s Managing Director, Roger Philippe, also applauded the team and reiterated Peak’s support for the team.

”The sponsored Nigerian para powerlifting team is an example of our willingness to take our consumers to the peak of their potentials. We are happy with their results in Paris and are eagerly expecting their future victory,” Philippe said.

Peak will continue to support para athletes, for this is in line with its brand ethos of excellence, tenacity, and the strive for greatness. Their continuous relationship with the power lifting team have helped Nigeria sports and likewise inspire millions of sports lovers globally.
