Lagos to Close PWD Rail Crossing Starting May 1

The Lagos State Government will close the PWD rail crossing starting Thursday, May 1 in order to protect commuters during their transit .

The News Agency of Nan received this information from Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi who serves as Lagos State Commissioner for Transportation.

Osiyemi described how a high number of accidents between rail vehicles and road vehicles occurred at this crossing which led rails into Ikeja and Maryland.

Survey of Safety along the PWD route

The Minister of Transportation conducted a survey of safety along the PWD route after Red Line Train Service operations began therefore requiring proactive steps to improve protection against accidents.

Lagos to close PWD rail crossing leading to the order from the Lagos State Government to ban vehicle access at PWD rail crossing which started on May 1.

Downing the PWD rail crossing requires drivers to pass through Ikeja and Airport roads as their main transportation routes.

Alternatives routes follows Lagos to Close PWD Rail Crossing

According to Osiyemi the closure stood essential for avoiding additional accidents at this location. Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) personnel will further supervise traffic flow across different routes to avoid disruptions experienced by road users.

This decision to close the PWD rail crossing was made with the security and protection of the masses. The government seeks to protect everyone in Lagos.
